Does drinking wine help to lose weight? Is drinking alcohol before bed ok while dieting? I have some good news for you. Drinking wine helps in weight loss but it doesn’t mean you are allowed to drink any alcohol you want.

The first thing fitness experts say when you are about to start your weight loss journey is to limit eating of processed foods, sweets and quit… drinking alcohol. You are also told to avoid calorie-rich foods and start your gym membership as soon as possible. However, drinking wine can be combined with your goal of staying healthy and losing weight. You just need to be smart about it though.

Drinking wine will help you to lose weight. Yes, you read that right. A phenolic compounds found in wine, resveratrol, will help you to lose weight. Especially if you drink a glass or two before going to sleep. Resveratrol converts stubborn white fat into the brown one that is much easier for your body to burn.

Drinking wine helps to maintain weight

Scientists from Washington State University confirm that revolutionary news that drinking wine helps in weight loss. However, they also say that people should drink it in moderation, so it means two glasses of red wine the most. The study on 20.000 women conducted by Harvard Medical School shows also that women who used to drink red wine much easier maintained their weight and 70% of them had slowed down the weight gain process.

Drinking red wine is also good for other things. According to scientists drinking red wine reduces risks for some kinds of heart disease, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Another studies also show that drinking wine that contains resveratrol efficiently lowers the appetite.

How much calories have one glass of wine?

Although, remember that to lose weight you still need to have less daily calorie intake than your body needs. In other words, you need to burn more calories than you daily consume. One proper glass of red wine (125 ml) has around 120-130 calories, so you must add it into your daily list of consumed calories. However, if you do not want to drink wine everyday, you can also find this stilbenoid polyphenol in blueberries, strawberries and grapes.
